    Learn about crowdfunding, backing a designers' project and how to get the perfect fit

    • WHAT IS DEMAND.STLYE?

      Welcome to DEMAND.STYLE! We’re something fresh, something unique that will disrupt the fashion industry for the better. Instead of having a selection of mass produced, ready-made garments, our products haven't even been made yet!

       

      We are a meeting place between customers, designers and suppliers. The designs on our site have been hand-picked and availble for pre-order. If the consumer demand meets the minmum number of pre-orders for a design, the design will go ahead for manufacture and delivery to the backer.

    • CROWDFUNDING, WHAT'S THAT?

      The concept of crowdfunding is a method of raising funds through the collective effort of friends, family, followers and customers.

       

      What is Crowdfunding?

       

      The approach utilises these collective efforts of a large pool of individuals to reach out via social media to the crowdfunding platform in order to raise awareness and exposure, ultimately collecting funds to back to the project from interested individuals.

    • WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I PLEDGE FOR A DESIGN?

      Pledging on a design essentially means pre-ordering the garment if the project is successful. Each design will have a minimum funding goal, if this is fulfilled within the project funding time frame the project will be successful and backers who've pledged on the design will receive the product after it is manufactured.

    • THE PROJECT I BACKED DIDN'T REACH 100%

      Don't worry! If the project you backed has ended and the minimum funding goal is not met,

      you won't be charged! Your payment through PayPal will only be charged if the project is successfully funded!

    • PERSONALISED SIZING

      If you see a choice for "CUSTOM" sizing when you are pledging for a product, this means that the product will be made according to your personalised sizing preferences.

       

      There are measurement guidelines on the "Sizing" tab under your account preferences.

    • WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?

      The delivery time for each project will be different, the status of your order will be communicated to you through the My Projects page.

       

      Detailed updates for individual projects will be communicated to backers through the projects update tab by the project creator.

    • CAN I RETURN MY PRODUCT IF IT DOESN'T FIT?

      If you've received your order and there is a sizing difference, we can offer you an alteration service if you are based locally. Other cases will be assessed on an individual basis, we will offer you a partial refund subject to a processing fees.

    • UPLOADING MY DESIGNS, MY PROJECTS AND DRAFTS

      Click the "START A PROJECT" button to get started!

      Self Photos / Files - StartAProject

       

      This will take you to a simple 4-step submission form to give us all the details you on your design.

       

      1. Basic
        Project Name, Brief, Story, Tags, Gender, Season, Category, Size Range, Proposed Price and Proposed Quantity
      2. Product Detail
        Main Colour, Details, Fitting, Key Measurements, DEMAND.STYLE Info Pack and option to provide existing sample
      3. Upload
        Give us any images, sketches or drawings you may have, as well as the completed DEMAND.STYLE Info pack for detailed measurements
      4. Submission
        Final review of all your details before you send them to us

       

      You can save your project submission as a draft at any time by clicking the "Save as Draft" button. You can revisit these under My Projects.

    • WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT A DESIGN?

      We are evaluating your submission and performing a feasibility study to assess the marketability, manufacturability, proposed cost and quantities of your design. This will take no more than 5 working days to process.

       

      In the meantime if you have any questions or additions you can navigate to the "Progress" tab in your project page and communicate with us about your design!

    • KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR PROJECT

      Each project will go through 9 milestones to completion. You can keep track of these on your project page under the "Progress" tab!

       

      1. Project Submitted
        Post-submission of your designs where we will carry out your designs feasibility study
      2. Awaiting Feedback
        During this stage, we will get back to you with an agreement regarding the terms, designer fee, proposed price and quantity of your design. After your acceptance of these terms we will green light your project to go ahead!
      3. Sampling
        We will collect your design prototype or commission a prototype sample to be produced (additional charges apply)
      4. Photoshoot
        We will collect your product photos or commission a photoshoot for your design (additional charges apply)
      5. Project Live
        Before your project is live, make sure to update all the relevant information on your project page, this includes your story and inspirations told through images or video links. Once your project is live, make sure to communicate with your backers through the "Updates" tab. We highly recommend you to post your project through social media networks to attract people to support your design and grow your followers!
      6. Backed
        Once your project reaches the minimum funding goal it will go forward for production after the project duration ends, well done! You will also receive your designer fee at this stage
      7. Manufacture
        DEMAND.STYLE will use the apportioned funds to facilitate manufacutre of your design for your backers
      8. Delivery
        DEMAND.STYLE will use the apportioned funds to facilitate the delivery of your design to your backers
      9. Ended
        Congratulations, your project is complete!


      You will also be able to track your project through the "Stats" tab. These will display some project metrics that will help you measure your pledge rate, demographics, page views, fee earned and more!

    • HOW SHOULD I MARKET MY DESIGN?

      Be responsive to your backers

      You will be able to communicate with your backers through the project page, make sure you fill in all the details;

      Project Story > inspiration behind the design, you can use images too!

      Comments > reply to questions about your design

      Update > post regular updates to inform your backers how the project is going

      Stats > pinpoint your audience and demographics for better targeted marketing

       

      Market on social media

      Don't hesitate to share this out to your social networks, keep people informed on updates to your project and share your project out to potential backers.

    • HOW IS MY PROJECT FUNDING GOAL AND DESIGNER FEE CALCULATED?

      Your design's funding goal and designer fee will be unique to your specific project. The funding goal will be made up of cost estimations based on the following;

       

      > DEMAND.STYLE processing fees (%)
      > Designer fee (%)

      > Expertise time costs
      > Designer fee

      > Prototype Sampling / photoshoot services (if applicable)

      > Product cost of manufacture

      > Product logistics charges

      > Payment gateway charges

      > Other project related overheads

       

      The detailed breakdown and your designer fee % will be outlined in the feasibility study communicated to you when you submit a design to our service.

    • HOW WILL MY DESIGN BE MANUFACTURED AND DELIVERED?

      Manufacture

      We work directly with hand-picked garment manufacturers who will take care of the production side to make your design. We will supply your product to your backers once the project is successfully funded.

       

      We ensure that the suppliers we work with have been hand-picked to ensure top quality fabrics and are industry experts in the garment trade. The suppliers we work with are reviewed regularly to ensure the health and safety compliances are met,  as well as providing ethical and fair working conditions.

       

      Logistics

      We are working with efficient logistics handlers that will ensure registered delivery to all the backers of your project, whether they are based locally or internationally.

    • SETTING UP PAYPAL TO RECEIVE MY FEE

      To make sure you receive your designer fee (%) correctly, you need to link your PayPal account to your DEMAND.STYLE profile.

       

      You can click the "Link my PayPal" button which brings you to the PayPal login page. After logging in it will register your account with your DEMAND.STYLE profile

    • EDITING MY PROFILE

      Keep your profile updated to make sure that you receive the right information! 

       

      For Shoppers it's important that we have your email, address and country so that we know where to ship your orders to.

       

      For Designers you have to link your PayPal account in order to start a project so please do this first. We also recommend you fill in the display name as your brand name, display picture and contact number.

      Once you're all done just hit the save button to keep your changes. 

       

    • SHARING MY TRENDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

      Our Trends page is a platform where you feel free to post whether you're a shopper or designer! You can feel free to post what inspires you, what you'd like to do for your next project and maybe even what you'd like to buy! We want you to postly freely to express what you think is the trend! Trend posts and design projects are shareable through social media

    • MY TRENDS PAGE

      You can access your Trends page by clicking on your user name menu, then clicking the "My Trends" link. This will bring you to your trends page where you can view all your previously posted trends, live projects that you have started and interact with other users.

       

      You can change your profile banner by clicking the menu button and uploading your own personalised image. You can also add your social media profiles through "My Account" to let other users connect with you on other social media networks.

    • HOW DO I RESET MY PASSWORD?

      Navigate to "My Accounts", click on the "Settings" tab. You will be able to request a password change by clicking on "Reset My Password".

       

      If you signed up to DEMAND.STYLE with your Facebook login, you will not be able to reset your password. Please do this via your Facebook account.

    • HOW DO I CLOSE MY ACCOUNT?

      Navigate to "My Accounts", click on the "Settings" tab. You will be able to close your account on this page with the pre-requisite that you are not involved, backing or hosting a project at the time.
